Diet:

Mudpuppies will eat just about anything. This includes snails, crayfish, fish, frogs, worms, mollusks and insects.

Habitat:

This unique salamander spends all of its life in the water. They live in lakes and rivers with rocky substrate.

Conservation Status: Least Concern; Species in Greatest Conservation Need Status in Minnesota

Natural History

This species uses its external gills to breath. They are sensitive to changes in water quality as their slimy skin absorbs things from their environment.
