Frequently Asked Field Trip Questions

FT Students with TankHow much time do we need to explore the exhibits? We recommend an hour and a half.

How much time do we need to explore AND take a class? Please plan to be at the Aquarium for
at least two and a half hours.

Can we park in the Aquarium lot? Yes. School groups receive free parking for buses, vans and up to five cars per visit. You are welcome to leave your vehicles in our lot during your entire day on the waterfront.

Can we eat lunch at the Aquarium? You are welcome to bring bag lunches with you. Please indicate the need for indoor lunch space during the reservation process and a time and   location will be assigned to your group. Groups of 30 or fewer can be seated indoors or outdoors at tables. Groups of 30-120 people will be scheduled to eat in picnic-style seating in the Aquarium lobby.

Who counts as a teacher? All school staff are considered teachers and admitted free of charge.

Who counts as a chaperone? Chaperones are responsible for touring with school children and are an important part of a positive learning experience. We ask that chaperones be at least 18 years of age. School groups receive a ratio of free chaperones relative to student grade level (see chart inside). Additional chaperones receive a discount on admission.

Is there a place to eat lunch? Yes, but you have to reserve the space in advance. There are two indoor spaces that we offer in which schools may eat lunch. Our lobby, with a picnic-on-the-floor style lunch, can seat most large groups. We also have a cafe space on our 2nd floor that can seat up to 25. When making your reservation, please note whether you will need an indoor lunch space.
