Simple things that you can do to protect the Great Lakes:
- Get to know your Great Lake - go for a walk on the beach
- Use latex paint instead of oil-based paint where appropriate
- Turn off the water or lights when not in use
- Let your garden and lawn grow naturally
- Drive your car less
- Participate in a beach cleanup
- Choose products packaged in recycled or recyleable materials
- Fix that oil leak in your car
- Plant a tree
- Dispose of fishing bait properly
- Do not release non-native fish or plants
- Clean and dry all fishing tackle, boats and equipment to avoid the spread of diseases and invasive species between bodies of water.
