Join us for a chat with one of our education staff. Learn more about animals, exhibits and the Great Lakes!

Please note that the scheduled programs change with the days of the week due to animal care requirements.

11:00 Great Lakes, Great Fish (Isle Royale, main level) S, M, T, Th, F, Sat

Every few days this program is also a dive show. Volunteer divers swim 26 feet down to the bottom of our largest aquarium to hand feed fish. Discover how to tell fish apart, who’s from around here and what the big silver ball is all about.

11:00 Baptism River Fish Feeding (Baptism River, second level) Wednesdays

The Baptism is a cold, fast moving river that cuts through volcanic bedrock on  Lake Superior’s North Shore. It is home to a variety of trout species (and many a fly-fisherman). Visit with our education staff to learn more about fish adaptations in this unique environment and help us hand feed the residents of this exhibit.

12:30 Creature Feature (main OR second level) S, M, T, Th, F, Sat

This program is a unique look at one of the animals or exhibits at Great Lakes Aquarium. It changes everyday and could include a fish feeding, reptile encounter, or seahorse investigation. On Tuesdays and Thursdays this show features the eight year old green winged macaw that lives in our Amazon exhibit. Discover his amazing adaptations, that beak is both beautiful and useful, see him wave hello and learn about his life at the Aquarium.

1:30 River Otter Snacktime (Otter Cove, main level) – Wednesdays

The two river otters that live at Great Lakes Aquarium love to explore new things. Join us to learn more about their lives and enjoy their playful antics as they explore an enrichment activity (new toy, puzzle or snack). Every day is different!

4:00 Isle Royale Trout Feeding (Isle Royale, second level) – Sundays

Trout and salmon are the top predators in the aquatic food web in Lake Superior. Some of these species are native and some have been introduced by people over time. Learn some handy trout ID as you watch these fish get their daily meal.

4:00 Reptile Encounter (Critter Corner, second level) – Mondays, Fridays

Join our Education Staff and a reptile ambassador for an up-close encounter with a snake or turtle. Visitors over the age of 5 will have the opportunity to touch a reptile. All visitors will get a glimpse into the life of these scaly vertebrates.

4:00 St. Louis River Feeding (St. Louis River Exhibit, second level) – Tuesdays

The fish found in temperate river habitats display variety of adaptations that help both prey and predators thrive. Join our education staff to learn more about these adaptations and watch muskies, catfish, sturgeon and gar devour their meal.

4:00 Isle Royale – Muskie Feeding (Isle Royale Exhibit, second level near Freshwater FOrest) – Thursdays
