Physical features:
Flat upper shell with red and yellow marking on plastron, bright yellow stripe behind eyes.

Habitat:
Lakes, rivers, streams.  Prefer quiet, shallow freshwater with thick mud.

Diet:
Plants, fish, crustaceans, aquatic insects

Fun facts:
Gender is determined by egg incubation temperature as they lack sex hormones. Low temperature produces males, high produces females.
