Physical features:
8 to 18 inch shell with saw-toothed keels. Dark brown to tan with yellow neck, leg, and tail, dark head. Tubercles on neck and legs.
Habitat:
Lakes, ponds, rivers, streams with muddy bottoms and abundant vegetation.

Snapping turtles kill other turtles by decapitating them.
