Physical features:
Medium sized turtle with brown, pyramid-like sculpted shell segments. Blunt black head, brown limbs, red or yellow on throat and connecting flesh.
Habitat:
Near rivers and streams with sandy bottoms. Like to bask on logs or grassy banks.
Diet:
Insects, worms, slugs, snails, carrion, algae, berries
Fun facts:
Each of their shell segments has growth rings like a cross section of a tree. Some scientists believe this indicates the turtle?s age.
