Round Goby
Neogobius melanostomus
Physical features: Round head with frog-like raised eyes. Black spot on first part of dorsal fin. Single scallop-shaped pelvic fin.
Habitat: Bottom dwelling fish that is able to survive in poor water conditions. Invasive to North American waters.
Diet: Aquatic invertebrates, fish eggs, small fish
Not so Fun Fact: Round goby pose a serious threat to native fish and aquatic ecosystems. Do not release goby into waters if caught. Contact local DNR or fisheries office to report a sighting.
