Seahorses

Physical features:
Each genus of seahorse has unique features. All posses a fused jaw snout, long tail and move through the water in a vertical position. Male seahorses possess a pouch that is used to incubate the young.

Habitat:
Coral reefs and sea grass beds on ocean floor.

Diet:
Plankton and larval marine life.

Fun facts:
Seahorses are the only fish with a neck! They mate for life and may recognize their mate by dancing. Much of the seahorse world is still a mystery. Scientists and concerned citizens are working to protect seahorses from exploitation in the global medicinal, craft and novelty trade.
