Rana septentrionalis
Physical features:
Two to three inches long with blotchy greenish brown skin, bright green lips and pale undersides. Males may have a bright yellow throat.
Habitat:
Lakes and rivers. Use water lilies to hide from predators and to hop across ponds.
Diet:
Insects, snails, and spiders.
Fun facts:
The skin produces a musky odor similar to the scent of a mink when the frog is handled.
