1. Why is there a charge for some but not all workshops/conferences?
We charge a fee for some workshops and conferences to cover your lunch costs or in some cases, the required curriculum book (per the curriculum publisher). These fees are going toward direct tangible take away things provided for you during the event.
The rest of the costs associated with the event; parking, staff time, marketing, print materials, space, registration, and coffee are underwritten by Great Lakes Aquarium or local businesses. Our community partners are donating their time and resources to the event. Thanks community partners!
Our Tuesday Series and several other workshops are sponsored by organizations, individuals and agencies. Thank you donors!
We also charge a fee to ensure that registrants attend the event. We plan for the number of people registered. If only half of them show up the day of the event, it means a lot of wasted food and possibly empty chairs that could have been filled by wait-listed educators.
2. What are my payment options?
You can pay for events online using a credit or debit card. We currently use PayPal as the processor of these cards. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay with a card. This option connects directly with the Aquarium’s account. We understand that some are concerned about using PayPal in any form. We are currently exploring other options. This is the most efficient system for our staff at the moment.

We try not to do day of payments because it makes it hard to plan for food etc. (see FAQ #1)
3. What if I started the registration form and then didn’t finish the payment part?
We can still see your registration in our system. One of our staff will reach out to follow up with you. We can also send you a link to a version that does not connect to any credit card processing page.
4. What if I have more questions?

The registration and payment process should not stand in the way of you joining us. Please share ways we can support your attendance.
