Diet: Omnivorous - plankton, insect larvae, fish eggs, vegetation, and detritus
Habitat: Prefers quiet pools and stream backwater, especially where submerged vegetation is present. Very resilient, goldfish can survive in a variety of habitats, including wide ranges of temperature, turbidity, and acidity.
Animal Size: 4-8 inches
Conservation Status: Least Concern

The goldfish's high tolerance for a wide range of water quality, combined with its popularity as a household pet, has contributed to its widespread invasion of Minnesota's waters.
