Dive into the fascinating world of aquarium careers this summer at Great Lakes Aquarium! Junior Waves offers students a unique behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run an aquarium facility, while learning about local flora and fauna.
Program Schedule
Junior Waves will meet on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., June 10-August 12
Program Highlights
Junior Waves Participants will…
- Work alongside aquarium professionals.
- Participate in hands-on activities throughout the facility.
- Learn and participate in water quality testing.
- Assist with animal feeding and basic care procedures.
- Explore exhibit design principles and techniques.
- Learn about Great Lakes geology, ecology, and conservation through activities in and around the Aquarium.
Some weeks we will go off-site to a nearby location to explore and learn!
Who Should Apply?
This program is perfect for students who:
- Have an interest in aquatic biology, environmental science, or conservation.
- Enjoy hands-on learning experiences.
- Are curious about potential careers in an aquarium setting.
- Want to meet new friends!
- Are entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade.
