Abstract images of plants that resemble wave and water movements will be on display in the Merrill Lynch Fine Arts Gallery March 16 through May 26.
The exhibit, called Middleshore, features paintings by multi-media artist and Master Gardener Laura Hallen. They reveal how plants mimic surface waves, seiches and fetch patterns seen on the surface of water.
“My art is an exploration of plants, their relationship with water and the coastal intersection where earth meets the sea,” said Hallen, who named each painting after a dangerous boat excursion she has taken or a historically famous shipwreck.
