An otterly awesome birthday bash is happening Saturday, March 2 at Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth. The Aquarium will celebrate the 6th birthdays of resident river otters Agate and Ore from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The celebration of the river otters is an annual event, focusing on two of the Aquarium’s most popular resident animals. Special programming for the day features two feeding show times at 11:00am and 3:00pm (typically there is one daily otter show), providing guests more opportunities to see the otters in action. During the 3pm show the otters will be given a special ice “cake” for their enrichment.
The sister river otters arrived at the Aquarium from Louisiana in 2014 where they were rescued and re-homed from a crayfish farm.
Activities and special events include crafts for kids, visits with otter mascots Splish and Splash, otter cake time and complimentary cake for guests served at 2:30. Regular admission rates apply. GLA members are always free
In honor of their birthdays, Agate and Ore are giving back to youth in our community. Help them gather new items for the Boys’ and Girls’ Club sites at Dave Goldberg Family Branch (Heritage Center) and Lincoln Park Branch.
