We are delighted to welcome the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival – Children’s Music Showcase to the Aquarium this year.
If I have a Homegrown wristband for the week, does that get me into this event at the Aquarium?
The music and children’s activities (e.g. bands, maypole, yoga) are free for everyone on Sunday. The Children’s Music Showcase is a grant funded event. A purchased wristband is not necessary for Homegrown at the Aquarium. That said, when you arrive for Homegrown at the Aquarium, you will be asked to check-in at the welcome table. Look for friendly folks in Homegrown t-shirts! You will receive a paper wristband, a map/schedule and details about Aquarium exhibit admission.
Is the event free?
You can listen to live music in the side yard, participate in music activities in the Aquarium lobby/atrium and go to activities in the 2nd floor Discovery Center for free. These are official Homegrown activities. You will be given a map and schedule when you check-in at the welcome table. (Did we mention you should check-in when you get here?)
Is admission to the Aquarium (exhibits, animal feedings, touch pools etc.) free?
Homegrown is sponsoring admission tickets (starting at noon) for the first 100 people to check-in at the Homegrown welcome table. Aquarium members are always free and can either check-in with Homegrown or at the Aquarium front desk.
A discounted rate of $3 off each Aquarium admission ticket is available at the Aquarium front desk for Sunday only (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.). All ticketed Aquarium visitors will receive a hand stamp for access to the exhibit galleries. You will be asked to show this hand stamp before entering/re-entering the exhibit galleries.
You DO NOT need to purchase admission to the Aquarium to listen to the music in the side yard, lobby or Discovery Center. Helpers will be on hand to assist Aquarium and Homegrown guests find their way.
What if I have an Aquarium membership?
Aquarium members are welcome to participate in Homegrown events. You may check-in at either the Aquarium ticketing desk or the Homegrown welcome table. Aquarium members must receive a hand stamp on Sunday to enter/re-enter the exhibit galleries.
Where should I park?
Parking at the Aquarium will be reserved for Aquarium and Homegrown guests. The parking fee is $5/car. Aquarium members park for free but are not guaranteed a spot. The lot is likely to fill up. Aquarium staff will be on-hand to manage traffic flow and suggest alternative parking locations. Parking is also available for $5 at the DECC across the street. Free parking is available at Playfront, Bayfront, Downtown and in Canal Park.
DTA buses can bring you within blocks of the Aquarium. Many hotels also have complimentary shuttles.
Will there be snacks?
A variety of snacks (e.g. chips, cheese, Uncrustables, cookies, lemonade) are available for purchase in the Aquarium gift store.
Please note that we no longer sell bottled water.
Bring your own refillable water bottle and get fresh, cold water at the water bottle filing stations!
